Hello Red Wings fans. How are you? That’s a rhetorical question, because if you have any common sense at all you’re pissed off right now. I, like many of you out there in Red Wing nation, had high hopes for today, and no matter how loud the voice was screaming from the back of my head that I was setting myself up for disappointment, I didn’t listen, I held onto hope. Hope that slowly diminished into a hell filled ball of fire inside my soul as the afternoon unfolded. If you saw my piece earlier about free agency, you can do me a favor. Print it off, take it outside to your driveway, take a light and/or match, light it on fire, drop it on the ground, piss on the ashes. Thank you.
This was Ken Holland’s last chance to show me that he still had a little somethin in the tank. Instead, we saw Steve Yzerman bolster his blue line with Anton Stralman and bottom 6 forward group with Brian Boyle. Then we saw Jim Nill turn Dallas into a friggin Western Conference contender by trading for Jason Spezza, adding Ales Hemsky along with depth forward Patrick Eaves and backup goalie Anders Lindback. Those 2 gentlemen were groomed by our very own Kenny Holland and have turned their teams around. Meanwhile, Holland spent the afternoon doing his best Peter Gibbons impression as he sat in his office playing Tetris, obviously forgetting to check a clock.
